Citizenship of Turkmenistan, being the integral attribute of the state sovereignty of Turkmenistan, determines belonging of person to the state and stable legal bond between them, set of their mutual rights and obligations.
Turkmenistan on behalf of the bodies and officials is responsible before citizens of Turkmenistan, and the citizen of Turkmenistan is responsible before the state. He shall observe the Constitution and the laws, to fulfill the duties established by them, to preserve interests of Turkmenistan and to protect its territorial integrity, to treat culture, customs, traditions and language of the Turkmen people and representatives of all nationalities living in the territory Turkmenistan with respect.
