About archives
This Law governs the relations arising during the forming, storage, use of archives and activities of archive organizations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The law is aimed at providing completeness of scope of all archive documents which are available in the territory of Uzbekistan, preserving integrity of National Archive Fund of the Republic of Uzbekistan and establishment of single accounting treatment, examination, registration, completing and use of archive documents for the purpose of satisfaction of social, cultural, scientific and other needs of citizens, society and the state.
The legislation on archives of the Republic of Uzbekistan consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
In the Republic of Karakalpakstan archiving is regulated also by the legislation of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about archives then are applied rules of the international treaty.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
archive - set of archive documents, and also the archive organization or structural division of the company, organization and the organization performing acceptance, storage and use of archive documents;
archive documents - textual, hand-written and machine-readable records, sound recordings, videos, movies, photos, photographic films, drawings, schemes, cards, and also the records on different material carriers having the archive importance after recognition by their those based on the corresponding examination, stipulated by the legislation;
