The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations in the field of archiving.
The legislation on archiving consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about archiving then are applied rules of the international treaty.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
especially important document - the archive document representing the inherent historical and cultural and scientific value, special importance for society and the state concerning which the special accounting treatment, storages and uses is established;
archive - the legal entity or separate division who is not the legal entity, performing completing, accounting, storage and use of archive documents
;archiving - activities for the organization of completing, accounting, storage and use of archive documents;
archive fund - set of archive documents, historically or logically connected among themselves, the legal entities or physical persons created as a result of activities;
archive documents - textual, hand-written and machine-readable records, sound recordings, videos, film documents, documentary photographs, drawings, schemes, cards, and also the records on other material carriers which are subject to storage owing to the importance for citizens, society and the state;
