About standardization
Accepted by National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on November 9, 1999
This Law establishes the legal basis of activities for standardization in the Republic of Armenia and competence of her participants, and also regulates the principles of development and application of regulating documents on standardization.
The basic concepts used in this Law, the following:
a) standardization - the activities directed to achievement in certain area of optimum extent of streamlining by means of establishment for general and repeated application of provisions concerning real-life or potential tasks;
b) the regulating document on standardization - the document according to which rules, the general principles or characteristics concerning different types of activities or their results are established;
c) the technical regulation - the document according to which technical characteristics of products (service) or the related processes and production methods (execution) are established. It can also include requirements imposed to terminology, packaging, symbols, marking or labeling of products. The requirements established by the technical regulation are obligatory;
d) the standard - the document according to which are established for general and repeated application of the rule, the general principles or characteristics concerning different types of activities or their results, directed to achievement in certain field of optimum streamlining, developed on the basis of mutual consent and approved by authorized body.
Depending on field of activity and the level of approval the international, regional, interstate, national standards and standards of the organization differ;
