About geological parks in the Kyrgyz Republic

This Law determines the legal basis of creation and functioning of geological parks in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic on geological parks is based on the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic, consists of this Law, the legislation in the field of environmental protection, the legislation in the field of subsurface use, the legislation on protection and use of historical and cultural heritage and other regulatory legal acts of the Kyrgyz Republic, and also come in the procedure established by the law into force of international treaties which participant is the Kyrgyz Republic.
For the purposes of this Law the following concepts are used:
1) the geological park (further - the geopark) - the territory with accurately certain borders having unique geological heritage, intended for protection of geological objects in combination with sustainable economic development of the region including tourism development, carrying out scientific research, and also educational projects;
2) geological object - separate natural landscape, exposure of rocks, cave, the location of fossil flora and fauna or other education which is of the special scientific, educational and esthetic value as part of geological heritage;
3) geological heritage - set of the unique objects of inanimate nature having key value for understanding of history of forming and evolution of Earth.
Geoparks are created for the solution of the following tasks:
1) ensuring integrity of unique geological objects, landscapes and paleontologic finds;
2) carrying out scientific research and conducting environmental monitoring behind condition of natural complexes;
3) increase in level of knowledge of the population of geological history of Earth and ecology through educational programs;
