About modification and amendments in the Law "About Defense"

Accepted by National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on February 12, 2025

Article 1. Part 1 of article 3 of the Law of November 15, 2017 No. ZR-196 "About defense" (dalee-Zakon):

1) in Item 5 to exclude the word "militia";

Item 9.1 to declare 2) invalid.

Article 2. In article 5 of the Law:

1) in item 4 of part 1 to exclude the words "creation of system of militia";

2) in Items 9 parts 2 and 3 of part 3 of the word "militia" shall be replaced with words "local forces of defense".

Article 3. To add part 2 of article 8 of the law with Item 7 of the following content:

"7) plan of territorial defense of the Republic of Armenia".

Article 4. To exclude the offer from part 3 of article 15 of the Law "The militia is effective under the authority of the General Staff of Armed Forces".

Article 5. Exclude from Item 9 of part 2 of article 17 of the Law of the word "about readiness and application of militia".

Article 6. In the name of Chapter 6 of the law the word "militia" shall be replaced with words "local forces of defense".

Article 7. To recognize article 29.1 of the Law invalid.

Article 8. Add the law with Article 29.2 of the following content:

"Article 29.2. Local forces of defense

1. Local forces of defense are created as division of public protection.

2. Tasks of local forces of defense are:

1) participation in protection and protection of borders of the Republic of Armenia;

2) accomplishment of separate fighting tasks in case of reflection of armed attack to the Republic of Armenia together with associations and military units of Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia;

3) participation in fight against diversionary, terrorist, prospecting or special forces of the opponent and other transactions;
