About especially protected natural territories

This Law governs the relations arising in the field of education and protection of especially protected natural territories.

Section 1. General provisions

Article 1. The legislation on especially protected natural territories

The procedure for education, the organization, protection and use of especially protected natural territories is established by this Law and other acts of the legislation of the Republic of Armenia adopted on its basis.

Article 2. Tasks of the legislation on especially protected natural territories

Tasks of the legislation on especially protected natural territories are:

- protection and reproduction of standards of the nature, ecosystem;

- protection of natural monuments;

- preserving biological diversity;

- scientific research of the natural phenomena;

- control of environment condition;

- ecological education and education, and also use, in the cases established by the law, natural objects in the recreational and cognitive purposes.

Article 3. The status of especially protected natural territories

Especially protected natural territories are the sites of land and underground waters, subsoil, plant and animal life, and also separate natural objects allocated in the procedure established by the law which represent special ecological, scientific, curative, cultural, esthetic value and completely, or partially, temporarily, or constantly are not subject to economic operation.

Especially protected natural territories have the international, republican and local value.

Especially protected natural territories are given the status of national parks, national parks, the state wildlife areas, nature sanctuaries.

For the purpose of restriction or prohibition of the economic activity making negative impact on especially protected natural territories. The government of the Republic of Armenia establishes conservation zones.
