I. General provisions

Article 1. Tasks of the Law "About Military Service"

This Law determines procedure for passing of active duty in the Armed Forces of the Azerbaijan Republic and other military forming (further - "Armed forces") created according to the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic, and military service in inventory.

Article 2. Concept of military service

The military service consists of active duty and military service in inventory.

The military service is special type of public service in the Armed Forces of the Azerbaijan Republic and other military forming created according to the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic.

The military service in inventory consists in passing of charges and accomplishment of rules of appeal on mobilization in wartime.

Article 3. Categories of citizens in relation to military service

In relation to military service citizens are subdivided into the following categories:

youths of premilitary age are citizens before acceptance on military accounting;

recruits are male citizens who before transfer in inventory consisted or shall stay on the military registry and not being in inventory, from 18 to 35 years;

military personnel is the citizens who are in active duty;

persons liable for call-up are the citizens consisting in inventory;

not persons liable for call-up are the citizens who are not subject to acceptance on military accounting or excluded from military accounting, including transferred to resignation.
