About the State environmental assessment
(with changes and amendments of July 14, 2000)
This Law governs the relations in the field of conducting the state environmental assessment and is directed to prevention of negative impact of the planned economic and other activity on the environment.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
impact on the environment - one-time, periodic or permanent process which effects are negative changes in the environment;
the conclusion of the state environmental assessment - the document containing information on results of conducting examination including conclusions about compliance of project solutions of the planned economic and other activity to requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus about environmental protection, and also conclusions about feasibility (inexpediency) of their realization;
changes in the environment - reversible or irreversible changes in condition of natural objects and complexes as a result of impact on them;
environmental impact assessment of the planned economic and other activity - the activities performed at stage of carrying out preproject and project works and directed to determination of types of impact on the environment as a result of implementation of the planned economic and other activity and also on determination of corresponding changes in the environment and forecasting of its condition;
