About production of the iodated edible salt for the purpose of improvement of health of the population and prevention of deficit of micronutrients

According to article 17 of the Constitutional law of the Republic of Tajikistan "About the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan" the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan decides:

1. Since September 1, 2026 in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan edible salt to make and implement only in the enriched form with addition of compound of potassium of iodate (except as specified, determined by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan).

2. Prohibit import, production and sale of not iodated edible salt in the Republic of Tajikistan.

3. To the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan:

- provide control of process of iodination of edible salt at the companies for production of edible salt according to sanitary standards and rules;

- to regularly carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of content of potassium of iodate as a part of edible salt and on the basis of the received results to provide information to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan;

- adjust by means of mass media information and explanatory work among the population on prevention of craw;

- represent to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan analytical and information materials on implementation of actions, connected with consumption of the iodated edible salt.

4. To industry ministry and new technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan:

- establish constant control behind activities of the companies for production of edible salt and realization of the iodated edible salt;

- take specific measures for timely purchase and import of potassium of iodate and other required materials for iodination of edible salt.

5. To anti-monopoly service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan together with other relevant ministries and departments within one month to review retail price of edible salt taking into account expenses on iodination of edible salt of potassium iodate and to hold it within the established cost.
