The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations in the field of social work.
The legislation on social work consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about social work then are applied rules of the international treaty.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
significant information - the personal data confirming the circumstances necessary in case of the organization of social work, and also archive documents, materials and other data;
social work - the sphere of professional activity promoting expansion of opportunities and potential of persons (families) needing social protection, leading to social changes in society by means of development of social services and the public assistance;
the public assistance - integral part of social work, the material support given to persons (families) needing social protection in connection with deterioration in their economic and social situation and also complex of the purposeful social and economic actions aimed at providing their socialization in society;
social services - integral part of social work, complex of the psychology and pedagogical, social and legal, medico-social and other measures directed to improvement of quality of life of person (family) needing social protection, creation to it opportunities for participation in life of society, equal with other persons, and (or) expansion of its opportunities for independent ensuring the basic vital needs;
