About modification and amendments in the Criminal code of the Republic of Armenia

Article 1. In article 221.1 of the Criminal code of the Republic of Armenia of May 5, 2021 (further - the code):

Compulsion of the candidate participating in elections to National assembly, the local government board which is carried out on pro rata electoral system, the head of municipality or the member of the local government board which is carried out on majority electoral system to rejection or refusal of the mandate:

it is punished by short-term imprisonment for a period of one up to two months or imprisonment for the term of no more than three years.

2. The action provided by part of 1 this Article which was made:

1) with blackmail,

2) with threat of use of violence to person or his close relative or the loved one, destructions or damages of property,

3) use of imperious or office powers, or the influence caused by them,

4) use of material or other dependence or

5) group of persons:

it is punished by imprisonment for a period of three up to six years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to be engaged in certain activities for a period of two up to five years.".

Article 3. This law becomes effective since April 1, 2025.
