This Law determines the general beginnings of charity, provides legal regulation of the relations in society aimed at the charity development, approval of humanity and mercy guarantees the state support to her participants, creates conditions for activities of charitable organizations according to the legislation of Ukraine.

Section I. GENERAL PROVISIONS

Article 1. Determination of terms and concepts

In this Law the stated below terms and concepts are used in the following value:

charity - voluntary disinterested donation of physical persons and legal entities in provision to acquirers of financial, financial, organizational and other charitable support; specific forms of charity is patronage, sponsorship and volunteer activities;

charity - the voluntary disinterested activities of charitable organizations which are not providing profit earning from these activities;

charitable organization - the non-state organization which main goal of activities is implementation of charity for the benefit of society or separate categories of persons according to this Law;

philanthropists - the physical persons and legal entities performing charity for the benefit of acquirers of the charitable help;

beneficiaries - the physical persons and legal entities needing and receiving the charitable help;

patronage - voluntary unconditional material, financial, organizational and other support of beneficiaries by physical persons;

sponsorship - voluntary material, financial, organizational and other support of beneficiaries by physical persons and legal entities for the purpose of promoting of only name (name), the sign for goods and services.
