Regulations on Interstate council on social protection and protection of public health, affected by radiation

I. General provisions

1. Interstate council on social protection and protection of public health, affected by radiation (further - Council), is created according to the Decision of Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States of September 9, 1994 about implementation of the Agreement on social protection and the protection of public health which was affected by radiation as a result of Chernobyl and other radiation catastrophic crashes and accidents, and also nuclear testing (further - the Agreement).

2. Council in the activities is guided by decisions of Council of heads of states and Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States, other decisions made within the Commonwealth and also the specified Agreement and this Provision.

II. Tasks and functions of Council

The main objectives and functions of Council are:

1. Coordination of efforts on implementation by the State Parties of the Agreement of the approved activities in the field of the social protection and protection of public health which was affected by radiation.

2. Development of the principles and criteria by determination of the status of persons which were affected by radiation.

3. Development of the recommendations aimed at providing for persons which were affected by radiation and also members of their families (in case of loss of the supporter) mutually agreed basic levels of their social protection, rehabilitation and health protection.

4. Coordination of approaches to establishment of communication of diseases and disability with effects Chernobyl and other radiation catastrophic crashes and accidents, and also nuclear testing.
