being guided by economic interests of both parties,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

Parties:

mutually recognize the operating state systems of standardization, metrology and certification on mutually advantageous conditions;

provide mutual provision of regulating and reference documents on standardization, metrology and certification on agreed terms;

recognize the state standards of single physical quantities, standard samples of structure of properties of substances and materials, standard help data on physical constants and properties of substances and materials approved by the Parties;

recognize in collateral order results of the state testing, approvals of type, calibration and metrological certification of the measuring instruments which are carried out by other Party;

mutually recognize in collateral order of the organization of the Parties which carry out accreditation of testing, test and calibrating laboratories, centers, and also the laboratories and the centers performing checking, testing and calibration of measuring instruments according to mutually agreed procedures accredited by these organizations;

recognize in collateral order certification bodies of other Party, test laboratories and the centers, and also certificates of conformity and marks of conformity on products and services in mutually agreed rules and procedures.

Article 2

The either party can apply regulating documents on standardization, metrology and certification of other Party if their requirements do not contradict the legislation of the State, according to the procedure, entered by National authority on standardization, metrology and certification.

Article 3

The parties will perform cooperation based on supplementary agreements, Protocols and Programs.

Article 4

Coordination of the works provided by this agreement and responsibility for their accomplishment are assigned on:

in the Republic of Kazakhstan - Committee on standardization, metrology and certification;

in the Republic of Lithuania - the Lithuanian department of standardization.

Article 5

The parties provide confidentiality of the obtained documentation and information on the works which are carried out within this Agreement and on the achieved scientific and technical results if the transferring Party stipulates their confidentiality. This information can be transferred to the third state only in case of the consent of the Party which presented her.

Article 6

This agreement cannot create or change the rights and obligations arising from other bilateral or multilateral agreements which participants are the Parties.

Article 7

All disputes connected with accomplishment and interpretation of this Agreement shall be solved by mutual consultations and negotiations.

Article 8

This agreement can be changed or added according to the mutual arrangement of the Parties.

Article 9

This agreement becomes effective from the date of the last notification of the Parties on accomplishment of necessary interstate procedures by them and will be effective within five years. Action of this agreement is automatically prolonged for the next five-year period if one of the Parties in six months prior to expiration of the Agreement does not notify in writing other Party on the intention to denounce it. It is made in Almaty on March 7, 1997 in duplicate, everyone in the Kazakh, Lithuanian and Russian languages, and all texts are equally authoritative. In case of disagreements of the Party will be guided by the text in Russian.
