The Parliament adopts this organic law.
This law regulates the organization and functioning of single system of official statistics with establishment of the general principles of collection, processing, generalization, distribution and storage of the statistical information of economic, social, demographic, financial, legal and other nature necessary for reasons for development of economic and social policy, strategy, decisions of bodies of the public power and business entities, planning of scientific research, informing the public, transfer of statistical data to the international organizations and other categories of internal and external users.
Operation of this law extends on:
a) the physical persons irrespective of their nationality which are in the territory of the Republic of Moldova and/or consolidation of these persons;
b) the physical persons who are citizens of the Republic of Moldova and being beyond its limits and/or consolidation of these persons;
c) legal entities of the Republic of Moldova, their branches, representations, structural divisions, and also the foreign legal entities performing the activities in the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
In this law the following basic concepts are used in value:
official statistics - the activities of bodies of official statistics on collection, processing of individual data, generalization, storage and distribution of statistical information performed using statistical methodologies;
distribution - distribution of statistical information using different forms and methods;
