In the Republic of Armenia the fauna is national wealth. It is one of the major elements providing integrity of the nature, guarantee of its ecological equilibrium and harmonious development. In the Republic of Armenia the fauna is property of the state, except as specified, provided by this Law.

This Law establishes state policy in the field of protection, protection, reproduction and use of types of wild fauna in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. The basic concepts used in the Law

In this Law the following basic concepts are used:

the zoological collection - collected, regulated, exhibited and the stored collection of live animals or their effigies, products of their life activity and medicines;

fauna - set of types of wild animals (invertebrates and vertebrata) and their communities;

fauna gene pool - set of heredity of type (types) of animal and its manifestations;

the inventory of fauna - system of data and documents on legal regime, quantity and quality characteristics, condition, ecological, cultural and economic values, geographical and administrative-territorial prevalence, resources and use of objects of fauna;
