This Law establishes the legal basis of the state statistics corresponding to the international principles of official statistics and is directed to creation of conditions for satisfaction of requirement of society, state and international community for official statistical information.

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. The main terms applied in this Law and their determinations

In this Law the following main terms and their determinations are applied:

administrative data – the documentary information (except for primary statistical data) obtained by state bodies and other organizations in connection with implementation of state powers of authority, ministerial procedures, the control (supervising) and other functions assigned to them by regulatory legal acts, and used for the organization and carrying out the state statistical observations, forming of official statistical information;

the state statistics – system of collection, processing, storage and protection of primary statistical data, forming, accumulatings, distribution and submissions of official statistical information;

the state statistical activities – the activities for maintaining the state statistics performed by the bodies of the state statistics and the state organizations authorized on maintaining the state statistics according to official statistical methodology;

the state organizations authorized on maintaining the state statistics – the state bodies and other state organizations (except for bodies of the state statistics) performing the state statistical activities for the questions entering their competence;

the state statistical observations – the collection of primary statistical data performed by the bodies of the state statistics or the state organizations authorized on maintaining the state statistics for the purpose of forming of official statistical information;
