About identity documents

This Law establishes document types, the citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan, foreign citizens and stateless persons, and also the basis of their registration, issue, replacement, recovery, cancellation, delivery, withdrawal and destruction proving the identity.

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. Basic concepts

In this Law the following basic concepts are used:

- identity documents - the document of the approved sample with the information on personal data of physical person fixed in it allowing to identify the personality and legal status of its owner for the purpose of identification of the personality;

- the passport of the citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan - the identity document of the citizen and confirming citizenship of the Republic of Tajikistan in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan and beyond its limits in compliance by international treaties of the Republic of Tajikistan;

- the diplomatic passport of the citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan - the identity document of the citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan and the confirmatory official status of its owner in case of trip abroad, accommodation outside the Republic of Tajikistan in connection with implementation of diplomatic and consular activities, and also other official functions and in case of entrance on the territory of Tajikistan;

- the service passport of the citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan - the identity document of the citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan and the confirmatory official status of its owner in case of trip abroad, accommodation outside the Republic of Tajikistan for execution of the service duties assigned to it and in case of entrance on the territory of Tajikistan;

- the all-civil foreign passport of the citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan - the identity document of the citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan confirming it legal status in the Republic of Tajikistan and beyond its limits;

- the passport of the foreign citizen - the identity document of the foreign citizen issued by foreign state;

- the certificate of the stateless person - the identity document of the physical person who does not have the evidence of the belonging to nationality of any state, issued by authorized state bodies of the Republic of Tajikistan;

- the temporary certificate of person who is looking for shelter - the document confirming the personality and legal status of the persons who are looking for shelter, petitioning for recognition by their refugees in the Republic of Tajikistan according to the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "About refugees";

- the certificate of the refugee - the document of the established sample confirming the personality of the persons who are looking for shelter, recognized as refugees in the Republic of Tajikistan;

- the certificate of birth - the identity document of physical person testimonial of state registration of the fact of its birth;

- the certificate on return to the Republic of Tajikistan - the temporary identity document of the citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan providing its right to return to the Republic of Tajikistan;

- the residence permit for the foreign citizen in the Republic of Tajikistan - the identity document of the foreign citizen in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan confirming receipt by it of permission to permanent residence in Tajikistan;

- the residence permit for the stateless person in the Republic of Tajikistan - the identity document of the stateless person in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan confirming receipt by it of permission to permanent residence in Tajikistan;
