The agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic Georgia on cooperation in the fields of education, cultures and in the humanitarian sphere

of September 4, 1995

The government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic Georgia which are hereinafter referred to as with the Parties

wishing to strengthen cooperation between both countries in the field of culture, education and in the humanitarian sphere and to promote further expansion of mutual understanding and friendship between the people of Uzbekistan and Georgia,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

For the purpose of the best acquaintance with achievements of culture of the Party will encourage creative cooperation in the field of culture and art, including way:

a) cooperation between the creative unions of artists and cultural institutions;

b) the organizations of tours of on-stage performance groups and contractors, establishing business contacts between the composers, artists and other persons occupied in the field of culture;

c) holding festivals, exhibitions, concerts and theatrical performances;

d) lecturing, holding seminars and conferences;

e) exchange of editions in the field of culture;

e) experience exchange and experts in the field of preservation and restoration of objects of historical and cultural heritage.

Article 2

Each of the Parties according to the procedure established in the country will give to physical persons and legal entities of other country opportunity to use libraries, the museums, galleries, archives and other organizations of cultural nature for scientific work, study and in other purposes answering to this agreement.

Article 3

The parties will help cooperation between organizations, associations and the organizations of culture, science and education of two countries, to establishment of direct exchanges and development of partner and cultural ties between regions and the cities of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic Georgia.

Article 4

The parties will encourage cooperation between the organizations in the field of copyright of both countries and transfer, reproduction and the edition in the country of works of other country of literary, musical, art and scientific content.

Article 5

The parties will render assistance to development of cooperation in the field of publishing case, including to exchange of book exhibitions, works of fiction, periodicals, to creation of joint projects between the literary and publishing organizations of both countries.

Article 6

The parties will help cooperation between both countries in the field of cinema, way:

a) mutual holding festivals, decades, days of cinema and premieres of movies;

b) exchange of art, documentary and chronicle movies on commercial and nonprofit basis;

c) coproduction of movies;

d) rendering assistance to one Party during creation of movies and processing of film materials in the territory of the state of other Party;

e) exchange of the delegations and certain specialists working in the field of cinematography, having paid special attention on development of contacts between young cinematographers;

e) participations in the international Film Festivals held in other country;

g) participations of one Party in the film markets (international, regional and territorial) which are carried out by other Party.

Article 7

The parties will encourage cooperation between both countries in the field of television and broadcasting, in particular in the way:

a) exchange of TV and radio programs;

b) coproduction of TV and radio materials;

c) assistance to one Party in creation of TV and radio materials by other Party;

d) exchange of the specialists working in the field of television and radio.

Article 8

The parties will encourage interrelations between the organizations of journalists and press organs and information of both countries and to give to journalists opportunity for accomplishment of their professional obligations, including establishment of business contacts.

Article 9

Attaching great value to cooperation in the field of humanitarian and natural sciences, the Parties will promote in every possible way exchange of scientists, representatives of scientific organizations and other specialists for carrying out research works, lecturing on the approved subject, acquaintance with activities of the relevant scientific institutions and achievements of both countries, and also to exchange of scientific publications and editions in above-mentioned areas.

Article 10

The parties will stimulate development of bonds in the field of the highest, average, vocational training and education in the way:

a) exchange of teachers and other specialists for acquaintance with statement of education and teaching, and also for training and lecturing;

b) exchange of students, graduate students and scientists in the field of humanitarian and natural sciences for study, training and scientific research;

c) researches of opportunities of representation of grants for training of children of school age, and also students and advanced training of specialists;

d) assistance to studying of language and literature of other country;

e) exchange of educational and methodical literature, education and visual aids.

Article 11

The parties will systematically inform on development of national education systems. The parties consider expedient creation of joint information venture bank on problems of education which organizational principles will be stipulated by the special protocol.

Article 12

The parties will encourage cooperation and bonds between youth and the youth organizations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic Georgia, exchange of delegations, holding student's meetings and sports competitions, exhibitions of the children's drawing, and also other joint actions.

Article 13

The parties will found the working Commission which will gather at least once in two years, serially in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic Georgia.

Consideration of the course of accomplishment of this agreement, development on the basis of the principle of reciprocity of bilateral intergovernmental programs of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic Georgia will belong to duties of the Commission.

Article 14

This agreement is signed for a period of five years.

Its action will be prolonged automatically for the subsequent five-year periods if any of the Parties does not declare by the written notice of the desire to stop its action not later than six months before expiration of this agreement or the next five-year period.
