The government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of Turkmenistan which are hereinafter referred to as by the Parties
being guided by provisions of the Treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan of January 16, 1996,
understanding importance of bilateral bonds in the field of tourism and considering as important and necessary factor of expansion and strengthening of friendship between the people of two states,
wishing to create the legal basis for further enhancement of tourist exchange between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan on the principles of equality and mutual advantage,
agreed as follows:
The parties will strengthen and encourage cooperation in the field of tourism between two states according to the legislation of both states, this agreement and other international agreements in which the Parties participate.
The parties will promote establishment of business contacts between the Turkmen and Uzbek organizations, associations performing joint venture for the purpose of servicing of tourists, to development of both group, and individual tourism, exchange of specialized groups including for visit of exhibitions, fairs, conferences, the symposiums and seminars held concerning tourism in the territory of the states of each of the Parties.
The parties will render assistance in transit through the territory according to the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to the tourists following to other countries. In case of registration of trips of tourists from the third countries which are in the territory of other State Party of this Agreement, the Parties will be guided by the domestic legislation, the international and interstate Agreements.
The parties will encourage exchange of information in the field of tourism between the national (state) tourism organizations.
The parties on the basis of reciprocity will give help each other in preparation of professional personnel for the sphere of tourism, to encourage exchange of specialists and scientific developments in the field of tourism, and also exchange of representatives of the press, radio and television for the purpose of advertizing of tourist resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
The parties will assist participation of national (state) tourism organizations, association and the companies of the states in tourist exhibitions, fairs and salons.
The parties will undertake measures for joint project implementation of WTO/UNESCO for promotion of tourism on the Great Silk way in the territories as the, and the third countries.
Each Party can open official representation for tourism in the territory of other Party.
The procedure for opening and activities of representations will be approved between national (state) tourism organizations of two countries, to be regulated by the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and to be drawn up by the relevant protocols.
The parties will coordinate cooperation between the national (state) tourism organizations within the World tourism organization and other international government and non-governmental tourism organizations.
The parties will charge to the national (state) tourism organizations to create the working group on accomplishment of this agreement and development of programs of bilateral cooperation.
This agreement becomes effective from the date of its signing, will be effective within five years and is automatically prolonged for the subsequent five-year periods if any of the Parties in writing does not notify other Party on the intention to terminate the Agreement in six months prior to the expiration of the next period.
Cancellation of this Agreement does not affect accomplishment of the programs and projects in the field of tourism approved during its action.
It is made in the city of Chardzhev on January "16", 1996, in duplicate, everyone in the Uzbek, Turkmen and Russian languages, and all texts are equally authoritative.
For the purposes of interpretation of this agreement the text in Russian is used.
