The government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of Georgia which further are referred to as with the Parties

being guided by aspiration to further development of friendship,

in view of important role of tourism in economic, social and cultural progress,

for the purpose of creating favorable conditions for tourism development and the best acquaintance with life of both states,

proceeding from mutual interest of cooperation increase in the field of tourism,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

The parties will promote development of equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of tourism for the purpose of acquaintance of citizens of both states with achievements in the field of economy, social development, culture, with the nature and sights, and also with historical monuments and cultural traditions of the people of both countries.

Article 2

The parties will cooperate in area of development of foreign tourism on the basis of equality and mutual advantage and will promote simplification of administrative formalities for the purpose of strengthening of tourist movement between two countries.

Article 3

The parties will promote experience exchange in all fields of foreign and internal tourism, to help cooperation also between other organizations and organizations dealing with issues of tourism and its development.

Article 4

The parties will also promote distribution of tourist information for attraction of flow of tourists both in one, and to other country by the publication of promotional materials, exchange of information, printing editions, exhibitions, movies and carrying out different symposiums and seminars.

Article 5

The parties will give mutual aid in personnel training of tourist complexes and to promote exchange of specialists of relevant organs in tourism, to promote the relevant departments and the interested organizations in creation of joint businesses and in implementation of other investment projects with the sphere of tourism.

Article 6

The parties through the relevant tourist organs will perform exchange of opinions on cooperation, work experience on activities in the international tourism organizations.

Article 7

The parties for the purpose of more effective cooperation in the field of tourism will help possibility of opening of tourist representations respectively in both countries and will give every possible help in their activities.

Article 8

The parties, in case of need, will hold consultations on the questions connected with implementation of this agreement and will propose for this purpose the measures directed to its accomplishment.

Article 9

By mutual consent of the Parties changes and additions which are drawn up by the separate protocols which are integral part of this agreement can be made to this agreement.

Article 10

This agreement becomes effective from the date of receipt of the last written notice by the Parties of each other of accomplishment of interstate procedures by them, necessary for its introduction in force.

This agreement will be effective within five years and is automatically prolonged for the next five years if any of the Parties does not notify in writing other Party, at least in six months prior to the expiration of the corresponding term about the intention to stop its action.

It is made in the city of Tashkent on May "23", 1997 in duplicate, everyone in the Uzbek, Georgian and Russian languages, and all texts are equally authoritative.

For the purposes of interpretation of provisions of this agreement the text in Russian will be used.
