The State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the State Customs Committee of the Russian Federation which are hereinafter referred to as by the Parties
being guided by the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation of Customs Services concerning detention and return illegally of the exported and imported cultural values of March 2, 1994,
in view of regulations of the Convention of UNESCO on the measures directed to prohibition and the prevention of illegal export and transfer of property on cultural values of November 14, 1970
noting important role of competent services of the states in protection of cultural heritage,
aiming to strengthen cooperation between these services and by that to strengthen fight against illegal export and import of cultural values,
came to the following mutual understanding:
1. In case of identification of the fact of illicit movement through customs border of the Republic of Uzbekistan and customs border by the Russian Federation of the cultural values belonging to the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation or if persons suspected of smuggling making are citizens of any of the specified states, the Parties on mutual basis and submit within week term each other:
- information which does not contradict requirements of the current legislation of the Parties, about circumstances of identification and detention of cultural values;
- the description and photos of the withdrawn values;
- the information about legal entities and citizens of each of the Parties involved in illegal export and import of cultural values if specified does not contradict provisions of the current legislation of the state of each of the Parties;
- data on vehicles on which cultural values, and methods of their concealment were transported.
2. The parties will inform each other on methods and methods of illegal export and import of cultural values without preliminary request.
3. The parties recognize that information provided according to the this Protocol will be used only for the purpose of fight against illegal export and import of cultural values.
The parties do not intend to provide to the third party, and also mass media of the data, received when implementing this agreement, without the consent of other Party.
4. All questions which can arise in connection with interpretation and application of the this Protocol will be solved by negotiations.
Signed in the city of Tashkent on October 11, 1998 in duplicate, everyone in the Uzbek and Russian languages.
