About the biospheric territories
Accepted by General Court of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on May 13, 1999
This Law determines the legal basis of creation and functioning in the Kyrgyz Republic of the biospheric territories.
The biospheric territories are created on purpose:
- preserving, recoveries and uses of the natural territories with rich natural and cultural heritage;
- supports of long-term, sustainable economic and social development of the territories, including their recreational use taking into account preserving and recovery of natural resources;
- long-term environmental control, monitoring and ecological researches, and also ecological education and education.
The biospheric territories represent the sites of land and water ecological systems or their combinations providing steady balance of biological diversity, economic development and protection of the corresponding cultural values.
The biospheric territories have the status of especially protected territories at the national level for which the specific mode of protection and use is set.
The biospheric territory has special nature protection, scientific, cultural, esthetic, recreational and improving value.
The status of the biospheric territory is determined:
- availability of especially protected natural territories;
- specific variety of objects of flora and fauna, the rare, endangered species included in the Red List of the Kyrgyz Republic;
- complex of natural and historical and cultural monuments;
- tourist, resort and recreational complex.
The relations in the field of creation and functioning of the biospheric territories are regulated by the nature protection legislation, this Law, Regulations on the biospheric territory and other regulatory legal acts of the Kyrgyz Republic.
