The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Health of Georgia which are hereinafter referred to as with the Parties
being guided by the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Republic Georgia on cooperation in the field of the health care signed on September 4, 1995 in Tashkent
in view of importance of expansion and deepening of bilateral cooperation in the field of health care, medical science and education, and also effective use of scientific potentials and achievements of practical health care of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Georgia,
aiming at consolidation of the relations of friendship and cooperation,
agreed as follows:
The parties will develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the following fields of practical health care and medical science:
- organization of health care and prevention of diseases;
- exchange of operational information on emergency situations and the epidemiological situation which is of mutual interest;
- rendering the specialized help to the adult and children's population;
- preparation of scientific and medical personnel;
- pharmacy and medical equipment;
- carrying out joint scientific developments;
- exchange of students, advanced training of doctors;
- exchange of the doctors working at contractual basis.
The parties will not allow the actions connected with the organization of medical care, introduction, control and execution of sanitary and hygienic standard rates which can exert adverse impact on health of citizens of the states of the Parties.
The parties agreed that the priority directions of joint activities are:
- rendering primary and specialized medical care;
- health protection of mother and child;
- preventive medicine and environmental protection;
- carrying out epidemiological surveillance in the territory of both countries behind emergence of especially dangerous infections;
- prevention and liquidation of medical and sanitary effects of emergency situations;
- pharmacy and medical equipment;
- sanatorium-health-resort treatment and rehabilitation;
- exchange of operational information;
This list is not subject to restriction and can be expanded.
The cooperation will be agrees Article 1 and 2 of this agreement to be performed by carrying out joint scientific research, consultations, exchange of specialists and medico-technical information, development of methodical recommendations, the organization of symposiums, the publication of monographs and Articles, other types of cooperation, subject and which time will be determined.
The parties agreed to provide in extreme situations mutual emergency medical and advisory and special material and logistical assistance on a grant basis.
The parties will promote establishment of direct connections between the highest and average special medical educational institutions, and also to exchange of graduate students, students and pupils on commercial or mutually acceptable basis.
The parties will create the working group of experts for determination of the specific directions and forms of cooperation.
Working language of working group is Russian.
This agreement can be changed or added according to the decision of the Parties and shall be drawn up in the form of amendment to this agreement.
This agreement becomes effective from the date of signing.
This agreement is signed for a period of 1 (one) and will be prolonged automatically for the subsequent one-year periods if any of the Parties a month before the expiration of the next term of its action does not inform in writing other Party on the intention to stop its action.
It is made in the city of Tashkent on May "23", 1997 in duplicate in the Uzbek, Georgian and Russian languages, and all texts are equally authoritative.
For the purposes of interpretation of provisions of this agreement the text in Russian is used.
