The procedure for acquisition and termination of citizenship of the Republic of Armenia is determined by this Law. Person loses citizenship of the Republic of Armenia owing to the nationality termination.
Each person in the procedure established by the law has the right to acquisition of citizenship of the Republic of Armenia. Armenians on nationality acquire citizenship of the Republic of Armenia in the simplified procedure.
The citizen of the Republic of Armenia cannot be deprived of citizenship of the Republic of Armenia or the right to its change.
Change of nationality is regulated by this Law and international treaties of the Republic of Armenia.
The refusal of citizenship of the Republic of Armenia or acceptance of nationality of other state in itself does not attract loss of citizenship of the Republic of Armenia.
The legislation on citizenship of the Republic of Armenia consists of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, international treaties of the Republic of Armenia, this Law and other regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Armenia.
If the ratified international treaties of the Republic of Armenia establish other regulations, than those which are provided by this Law are applied regulations of the international treaty.
Citizens of the Republic of Armenia are persons which acquired citizenship of the Republic of Armenia according to this Law.
