The protocol between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in the military sphere

The Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan which are hereinafter referred to as by the Parties

relying on historical traditions of friendship of the people of two countries, the Contract on bases of the interstate relations, friendship and cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan of May 30, 1992, the Contract between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in military area of March 2, 1994, the Agreement on collective security of May 15, 1992,

considering the developing cooperation in economic area on the basis of the Agreement on creation of Economic union of September 24, 1993, and also in the field of creation of the integrated air defense system within the Commonwealth of Independent States, need of forming on the basis of the Agreement on collective security of system of ensuring regional security of the State Parties of this Agreement, aspiration of the Republic of Uzbekistan to creation of modern national Armed Forces,

recognizing need of strict accomplishment of the normative legal documents concerning reduction of armaments, technical and material security of national Armed Forces, deliveries by it of the newest samples of arms and military equipment, components for the purpose of their maintenance highly of combat and mobilization readiness agreed about the following:

Article 1

The parties will deepen and enhance cooperation in military and military and technical areas on the basis of signed contracts and agreements.

Article 2

The parties confirm the aspiration to active participation in forming of system of collective (regional) security within the Commonwealth of Independent States on the basis of the Agreement on collective security of May 15, 1992, the Contract between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in military area of March 2, 1994 and some other agreements which realization will be enabled on the basis of close interaction and cooperation increase in the military sphere in case of which military safety of the Parties can be effectively ensured.

Article 3

The parties in three-months time will hold consultations for the purpose of studying by the Republic of Uzbekistan of regulatory framework of the created general strategic space and will determine extent of their practical participation in its forming.

Article 4

The parties for the purpose of ensuring the reliable military safety will equip the Armed Forces with standard modern types of domestic arms and military equipment, the components and material means made by the Parties, to deepen cooperation of the military production, to perform standardization and unification of arms and military equipment.

The parties will handle assistance issues each other in creation of joint businesses (productions) on release of arms, military equipment and components.

Article 5

The parties will plan coordinated actions for the benefit of ensuring reliable collective (regional) security on cases of emergence of safety hazard and territorial integrity of both states, including will perform the coordinated actions directed to preparation of military personnel proceeding from needs of Armed Forces of the Parties.

Article 6

The parties will take additional measures for accomplishment of obligations of the former USSR for implementation of the Statement of the Representative of USSR in Joint advisory group for the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe of June 14, 1991.

Article 7

The this Protocol becomes effective from the date of its signing.

It is made in the city of Tashkent on July 27, 1995 in duplicate, everyone in the Russian and Uzbek languages, and both texts are equally authoritative.
