The government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of Turkmenistan which are hereinafter referred to as with the Parties

aiming at further development of mutual cooperation in the field of geodesy, cartography and interdisciplinary sciences and technologies,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

The cooperation within this agreement will be performed with involvement of the relevant organizations of the Parties and can wear the following uniforms:

a) production of land, cartographic and land management works;

b) printing services according to the edition of cards, atlases and other types of printed materials;

c) accomplishment of space shootings of the territories and data exchange of remote sensing;

d) development of methodology of creation of banks of digital data about the area, geographic information systems;

e) exchange of information, the concerning geographical study of the territory of the states of the Parties and updating of the contents of maps connected with changes in administrative-territorial division, names of geographical objects, with development of road net and other elements;

e) exchange of other scientific and technical and production information;

g) collateral execution of developmental works;

h) experience exchange of work between the land, land management, cartographic organizations and educational institutions performing training in the field of geodesy, cartography and land management;

i) training and training of specialists in geodesy and cartography.

Specific purposes, tasks and conditions of such cooperation will be determined by the organizations contractors of geodetic, cartographic and land management services of the Parties in coordination with relevant organs of public administration.

For the purpose of program implementation of cooperation of the Party will take measures to perhaps simplified movement through frontier of necessary raw materials, the equipment, equipment and finished goods according to the current legislation of the states and the signed contracts between the subordinated organizations of the Parties.

Article 2

The parties during 1996 will make mutual exchange (transfer) on a grant basis as of January 1, 1992 of land, cartographic and space materials on their territorial accessory.

Copies of originals of topographic maps on which part of the territory of the Parties is displayed, are transferred to other Party on its request.

Article 3

Each Party will perform land works on creation and updating of cards of large-scale row within the territory of the state. Outside the territory of the state such works are performed according to conditions, in addition developed Uzgeodeziya and Turkmengeodeziya according to the current legislation of the states.

Development of geodetic and leveling networks along border of both states will be carried out under mutual approval of the Parties.

Transfer of topografo-geodezicheky materials, space shootings, basic data for conducting geodetic works is performed on a grant basis according to in addition developed procedure by Uzgeodeziya and Turkmengeodeziya.

Article 4

Performing cooperation in the forms mentioned in Article 1 of this agreement, in particular exchange of information, the Parties will mutually consider interests of state security and questions of ensuring protection of the state secrets of the Parties according to the current legislation, and also two-way and multilateral deals on these questions.

Article 5

The cooperation within this agreement will not interfere with other forms of specialized contacts of the Parties in the field of geodesy, cartography and land management performed under mutual approval of the Parties including on compensation and commercial bases.

Article 6

This agreement becomes effective from the date of its signing and will be effective within 5 (five) years. They it will be prolonged automatically for the subsequent five-year periods if any of the Parties does not declare in writing in six months prior to the expiration of such period the intention to terminate this agreement.

It is made in the city of Chardzhev on January 16, 1996, in two authentic copies, everyone in the Uzbek, Turkmen and Russian languages, and all texts are equally authoritative.

For the purposes of interpretation of this agreement the text in Russian is used.
