Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. Subject of regulation of the Law

This Law governs the relations concerning the sphere of tourism of the Republic of Armenia, and arising in the field of tourist activities of the relation which take place in implementation process of the rights of citizens to rest, travel and freedom of travel.

Article 2. Basic concepts of the Law

In this Law the following basic concepts are used:

tourism - the activities performed by the citizens traveling in the cognitive, improving, sports, religious, professional, business purposes for the purpose of rest, visit of relatives and other purposes from the place (country) of permanent residence to other place (country) as much as possible for a period of up to one year without interruption;

the visitor - the citizen performing travel from the place (country) of the permanent residence to other place (country) as much as possible for a period of up to one year without interruption which main objective of travel is not the paid labor activity in the place (country) of arrival and which in the place (country) of arrival for the main labor activity is not rewarded;

the tourist - the visitor who when implementing travel, carries out at least one spending the night in the place (country) of arrival;

internal tourism - travel of the citizens living in any country in borders of the country;

outbound tourism - travel of the citizens living in any country to any other country;

entrance tourism - travel of citizens to any country which is not the place of their accommodation;

tourist activities - the activities performed by legal entities, individual entrepreneurs for rendering tourist services;

tourist services - the services rendered to tourists and directed to satisfaction of their needs for placement in hotel services, transportation, excursions, in the organization and provision of food, actions of cultural, sports nature, the organization of rest, entertainment and other services;

the subject of tourist activities - tour operator and travel agent;

tour operator - the legal entity or the individual entrepreneur who performs activities for forming, promotion and realization of tourist product as a result of which the tourist packet is provided;

the travel agent - the legal entity or the individual entrepreneur who performs activities for promotion and realization of tourist product as a result of which the tourist packet is provided;

tourist product - cumulative complex of tourist services;

the tourist action - tourist product which consists of at least than two tourist services united in one program is provided by single tariff and the minimum for at least 24 hours is presented or includes at least one spending the night;

tour - tourist action which provides change of the place of stay of the tourist;
