1. Approve "Regulations on procedure for conducting registration and accounting of names of geographical objects, requirements to dictionaries and reference books of names of geographical objects, rules of creation and maintaining the state catalog of names of geographical objects" it (is applied).

2. This resolution becomes effective from the date of signing.

Regulations on procedure for conducting registration and accounting of names of geographical objects, requirements to dictionaries and reference books of names of geographical objects, rules of creation and maintaining the state catalog of names of geographical objects

1. General provisions

This Provision is prepared based on Item 1.3 of the Presidential decree of the Azerbaijan Republic of March 10, 2008 No. 729 "About application of the Law of the Azerbaijan Republic "About names of geographical objects" and establishes procedure for conducting registration and accounting of names of geographical objects, requirements to dictionaries and reference books of names of geographical objects, rules of creation and maintaining the state catalog of names of geographical objects.

2. Accounting and registration of names of geographical objects

2.1. Accounting and registration of names of geographical objects is performed for the purpose of their preserving as part of single historical and cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people.

2.2. Names of the geographical objects located in the territory of the Azerbaijan Republic, including geographical objects of the continental shelf belonging to the Azerbaijan Republic sectors of the Caspian Sea and researched by the Azerbaijani researchers are registered and registered according to the Law of the Azerbaijan Republic "About names of geographical objects".

The names appropriated to geographical objects after entry into force of the Law of the Azerbaijan Republic "About names of geographical objects" and with violation of requirements of the specified Law, are not registered and are not registered.
