About the passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan

1. Approve the enclosed Regulations on the passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan and the description of the passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan.

2. To perform exchange of passports of the seaman of the being USSR for passports of the seaman of Turkmenistan till October 15, 1998.

3. Determine that before exchange and issue in full passports of the seaman of Turkmenistan are saved the power by passports of the seaman of the former USSR.

Regulations on the passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan

1. Passports of the seaman of Turkmenistan are issued to the citizens of Turkmenistan working at courts of Turkmenistan of foreign swimming or at foreign vessels.

The passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan is the official document proving the identity of its owner as abroad, and within Turkmenistan.

2. The seaman and departure from Turkmenistan on the vessel which muster roll includes the owner of the passport is allowed to the owner of the passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan according to the passport.

4. The passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan is issued for a period of up to five years. Its action can be prolonged once for a period of up to three years after which the passport is subject to replacement.

5. Persons receiving passports of the seaman of Turkmenistan hand over the passports of the citizen of Turkmenistan in the place of issue of passports of seamen of Turkmenistan to them.

The passport of the citizen of Turkmenistan is handed out to the owner at its request for civil registration and in other necessary cases.

6. Passports of the seaman of Turkmenistan according to the lists approved with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan are issued by heads of the State committee of fishery of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen sea shipping company and Turkmen river shipping company of name of the President of Turkmenistan S. D. Niyazov within their competence or according to their order the corresponding officials of these shipping companies.

To the persons working at courts of foreign swimming, being under authority of other ministries, departments and legal entities according to the lists approved in accordance with the established procedure with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, issue of passports of the seaman of Turkmenistan is made also by heads or according to their order the corresponding officials of the above-named shipping companies of Turkmenistan.

7. In case of write-off from the vessel the owner of the passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan shall hand over the passport in the place of its obtaining. At the same time to it the passport of the citizen of Turkmenistan returns.

8. The owner of the passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan shall store the passport carefully.

When losing the passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan its owner shall report immediately about it to the captain of the vessel or the chief of shipping company in which the passport is issued.

The lost passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan is considered invalid.

Description of the passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan

The passport of the seaman of Turkmenistan is made of special protective paper with local watermarks in the form of the image of horse.
