The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations in the field of legal status of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Operation of this Law extends to the foreign citizens and persons without citizenship who are constantly living in the territory of other states driving or temporarily staying in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and also constantly living in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Operation of this Law does not affect privileges and immunities of foreign citizens and stateless persons established by the legislation and international treaties of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The legislation on legal status of foreign citizens and persons without citizenship in the Republic of Uzbekistan consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about legal status of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the Republic of Uzbekistan then are applied rules of the international treaty.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
the stateless person - the person who is not the citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan and not having the evidence of the belonging to nationality of foreign state;
the foreign citizen - the person who does not have nationality of the Republic of Uzbekistan, having nationality and the proof of the belonging to nationality (citizenship) of other state;
