Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. Purpose of this Law

The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations in the field of seed farming.

Article 2. Legislation on seed farming

The legislation on seed farming consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.

If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about seed farming then are applied rules of the international treaty.

Article 3. Basic concepts

In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:

approbation - field inspection for determination of genetic (high-quality) purity of plants, porazhayemost wreckers, infectiousnesses diseases and general condition of the seeds provided for crops;

hybrid seeds - the seeds received from crossing of grades, types, different in heredity, and parent forms;

original seeds - the seeds made by the author of grade or person authorized by it and intended for further reproduction;

the patent holder (licensor) - the legal entity or physical person which acquired the property right to selection grade and (or) hybrid seeds;

population - set of the plants of free crossing (distinguished from each other by heredity) widespread in identical edaphic-climatic conditions and belonging to one type;

reproductive seeds - the seeds of the subsequent generations received from elite seeds;

seeds - the seed, fruits used for crops, the vegetable parts which are made multiple copies in the vegetative way;

genetic (high-quality) quality of seeds - complex of the indicators characterizing genetic purity of seeds of certain grade;

sowing qualities of seeds - complex of the indicators characterizing suitability of seeds for crops;

batch of seeds - certain quantity homogeneous by origin and to quality of seeds;
