About national chronology in Turkmenistan
As a result of the pursued policy on further revival and upgrade of Turkmenistan in the country large-scale transformations are performed. Scale of the happening changes, growth of the national capacity of our Fatherland show that it is capable to influence development of the international political, commercial, cultural, scientific and educational backgrounds positively.
Considering that during forming of qualitatively new model of the global cooperation which is based on the principles of recognition of national interests the scale of the international relations, the wide use of the Gregorian style of chronology in international treaties, correspondence taken by it within centuries the significant place in the Turkmen literature, historical, official and archive documents in everyday life more and more extends, and also in view of wishes of the population and offers arriving from it, the Majlis of Turkmenistan decides:
1. Approve the following designation of months and days of the week in Turkmenistan:
Establish designation of months of year:
first month - January;
second month - February;
third month - Mart;
fourth month - April;
fifth month - Mai;
sixth month - June;
seventh month - July;
eighth month - Augustus;
ninth month - September;
tenth month - October;
eleventh month - November;
twelfth month - December
on the Gregorian chronology.
Establish the following national designation of days of the week:
the first day - Dushenbe;
the second day - Sishenbe;
the third day - Charshenbe;
the fourth day - Penshenbe;
the fifth day - Anna;
the sixth day - Shenbe;
the seventh day - Ekshenbe.
2. This resolution becomes effective with 1 Gorkut of 2008.
